Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complicated but favored poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has increased in popularity so amazingly.

Omaha hi/lo begins like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A round of wagering follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further sequence of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting ensues and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers must attempt to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is where many entrants get baffled. Unlike Hold’em, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player has to use precisely three cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It is the best possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in nearly every poker game.

A low hand is more complicated, but certainly opens up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand available, the higher hand takes the entire pot.

It may seem complicated at the outset, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the base subtleties of the game with ease. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better offers an amazing assortment of wagering options and owing to the fact that you have several individuals trying for the high, along with several trying for the low. If you like a game with a lot of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha/8.
